Hi everyone!

I wanted to share an obsession of mine for several years: hair products. Currently, I have three different pairs of shampoos and conditioners as well as several curl creams that I rotate through. WOW, isn’t she extra! Anyways, I was doing a good job of finishing up my products until I went on a shopping spree on Amazon Prime Day this year and stacked up on a couple hair products. What’s new? My justification for that was, “It will last me for like half a year so honestly, it’s worth it!” Can you agree?

Here is a little background story/timeline of how this obsession came to be.

Middle School me: I’ll just use whatever my mom bought at the time (Pantene, TRESemmé, etc). I’ll shampoo my hair and not even bother with conditioner because what difference does it really make? I’ll just let my hair air dry and go watch the new episodes on Disney at 8pm. This would result in frizz and dry hair that was NOT a good look on me, especially because I already have thin hair and had some hair loss on the way. YIKES!

High School me: My hair obviously had some texture and I am tired of looking like a mess. I want to fix this fuzzball I have on my head and try some of those curly/wavy hair products I’ve seen. Which one do I choose? There are so many! I’m too indecisive for this. I’ll just get a random one and test it out.

Ever since, I have not stopped buying hair products to find the best fit for my type 2A/2B hair! This section of my blog is dedicated to reviewing hair products I have previously tried and I hope this could help someone with their hair care journey! Suggestions are welcomed!

Product Review 1: Kreyòl Essence OMG! Curl Crème.

I would like to start off this segment with an introduction to my current curl cream: Kreyòl Essence OMG! Curl Crème. It has a sweet, tropical scent due to the coconut and papaya. Every time I smell my hair, I can only imagine myself sipping on a fruity beverage in my tropical paradise – wherever that is. As someone who has thin, wavy hair (type 2A/2B), it is a great choice because it enhances my natural curls and keeps them soft all day. As you can see below, my curls are in great shape after applying the cream post-shower and letting them air dry (Day 1). After a long day in the office (Day 2), my curls seem to hold up decently, but is frizzy on the left side (most likely due to me sleeping on that side). If we’re talking curl longevity, I can say that sometimes it holds my curls very well days after the application and sometimes it can look like the day two picture. My final thoughts: very hydrating, good curl definition on the day of application, lovely smell, decent curl longevity, and a bit on the pricer side.

Product Review 2: Miss Jessie’s Pillow Soft Curls Unisex Lotion

The second product is Miss Jessie’s Pillow Soft Curls, which is suppose to give you big and fluffy curls that smells like fresh laundry. To me, it kind of smells more like the Johnson’s baby shampoo but either way, it smells AMAZING! If you’re curious, it has no sulphates, mineral oil, petroleum, paraffin, or animal testing/ingredients. After applying it to my damp hair and letting it dry, my hair feels soooo soft and healthy. On day one, my curls are well-defined and look picture-perfect after air drying. My day two picture is my hair after sleeping on it during the night and a long day in the office, once again. It is a bit frizzy and the curls have loosened up a little as you can see in the hair length difference. However, the frizz is normal for me on the second day and compared to the Kreyòl Essence OMG! Curl Crème, I think my day two curls are more defined and less frizzy with Miss Jessie’s product. Overall, I have no complaints and I would definitely buy this product again!

Product Review 3: Argan Magic Defining Curl Cream

I bought this product on a whim due to the good reviews I saw. This product is suppose to be a lightweight and moisturizing cream that helps prevent frizz and define your curls without being stiff and sticky. The bottle states that it is best for medium to coarse hair, but I wanted to see how well it works with thinner or 2A/2B hair. When applying the cream with my twist and scrunch technique, I found that it dried pretty quickly so I was little worried about how well it would hold my curls. After letting it air dry, I noticed that my curls weren’t as defined as it was when using the first two products. It could be that the cream is a bit heavy and therefore, would weigh down my thin hair. I think the results were good for my type of hair, but I think it would definitely be better for thicker hair! For the scent (I didn’t forget!), it has a citrusy and fruity smell that is not too strong, in my opinion.
